Larry Wayne Tate's Obituary
Larry Wayne Tate of Brooklyn, 76, passed away November 11, 2023 at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, Jackson. Larry’s family and friends will gather Friday, November 17, 2023 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Eineder Funeral Homes - Brooklyn Chapel. His funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment of ashes will follow at a later date at Fort Custer, Augusta, Michigan.
Larry was born on February 6, 1947, in Bluefield, West Virginia to Thomas and Kathleen (McCrosky) Tate. Larry married the love of his life, Kathryn Kester, on January 16, 2015, at the Golden Nugget in Onsted, Michigan. He will be remembered for his proud service in the United States Army, receiving the Purple Heart Award in Vietnam. Larry loved all cars and enjoyed racing in Manchester, Michigan in his earlier years. He collected all things John Deere and restored Cub Cadet tractors. He was a 4-H and Boy Scout leader as well as an Eagle Scout himself. Larry had a wonderful and unusual sense of humor and never met a stranger. He worked the majority of his life as a machine operator but later in life worked at Michigan International Speedway. Larry and Kathy had recently purchased a camper to go camping. He cherished the time with his family especially his little dog, Mya. Larry will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn; his children, Tom (Beth) Yeider and Rebecca (Grant) Burnett; brother, Tom Tate; 15 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Kathleen.
