Lavaughn Dwight Summers' Obituary
Age 86, of Columbia Township, passed away at his home Friday, June 12, 2015 under the loving care of his family and Great Lakes Caring Hospice. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Doris Mae (maiden-Johnson) Summers, two daughters, Ola (Butch) Brighton of Tipton and Tracy Summers of Monroe, two grandchildren, Tyler Brighton and Nora (Jeff) Coffell, two great-grandchildren, Cole and Cade Brighton, five siblings, Herbert, Dale (Elaine) and Gale (Sharon) Summers, Thelma (Fayette) Miller and Kathleen (Gary) Vaughn, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Kevin D Summers in 2006, six siblings, John, Eugene, Donald and Eugene Summers, Barb Johnston and Ilene Francour and his parents, Sanford and Edith (maiden-Baker) Summers. Chet was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandparent who enjoyed attending his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's games and events as well as frequent babysitting. He worked many years as a Fuel Truck Driver for Amoco Oil and also hauled freight for LJ Beal Trucking in Brooklyn. He took great pride in manicuring his lawn and flower beds and enjoyed occasional trips to casinos. Mr. Summers has been cremated and no services will be held.
