Linda Rae Gier's Obituary
Linda Rae Gier, 76, of Cement City passed away at her home on December 28, 2022. Linda’s family and friends will gather on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Life House Church, 9425 Tipton Hwy., Tipton, MI from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Her funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Pastor Brian Grothe will officiate.
Linda was born on December 15, 1946, in Clinton, Michigan to Edward and Ellen Rae (Mulnix) Blatchford. She was a graduate of Clinton High School. After graduation, she was employed at Hoover in Manchester where she met her husband, Raymond Gier. They were married for 54 years. She then graduated from Adrian Beauty School and worked as a beautician for several years in salons and had her own in-home salon. She retired from Hill’s Heart O’ The Lakes Golf Course in 1998 to spend time taking care of her grandkids. She took a few months every year to go to her winter home in Homosassa, Florida (where her kids and grandkids would visit every year). Family and friends meant everything to Linda and you never spent any time with her that she didn’t make you laugh. She was the life of every party and the “hostess with the mostess” – opening her home for annual family and friend pool parties, graduation parties, weddings, anniversary parties, retirement parties … not to mention hosting annual birthday celebrations for each of her kids and grandkids and all the holiday gatherings! She was the strength and rock of her family – she was always the soft place to land when anyone was having a rough patch. She was a consummate cheerleader and #1 fan for her kids and grandkids. She was sure each one could climb right up to the sky and place a star; and she wasn’t shy about telling anyone just how proud she was of each of them.
Linda will be missed by her husband, Raymond; her children, Brett (Lisa) Gier and Shaney (Jon) Gorrell; grandchildren, Jonathan Gorrell, Noah Gorrell, Alanah Cochran, Carissa Gorrell and David LeForge. Step-granddaughters Brittany Ramos and Ashley Gomez; great grandchildren, Brodee, Aryella and Nash Gorrell; several brother and sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, David, Eddie, Phil and Ted Blatchford; and her in-laws Carl and Madeline Gier.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Please leave a message of comfort for Linda’s family or sign her guestbook at www.EinederFuneralHomes.com.
