Louis Edward Chartier's Obituary
Louis Edward Chartier, 83, of Abbeville, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Louis’ family and friends will gather from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Cement City Baptist Church, located at 16788 Cement City Rd, Cement City, MI 49233. His funeral service will follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Drew Woods will serve as celebrant. Burial will immediately follow the service at Sanford Cemetery in Woodstock Township.
He was born on April 11, 1941, in Ferndale, Michigan, to Louis Joseph and Loretta (Schneider) Chartier. Louis married Diane Marie Dubeau on December 28, 1996, in Cement City, Michigan. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Louis took many of those around him under his wing, graciously offering his devoted guidance and care. For 28 years he was the owner of Luigi’s Pizza. Louis was a regular attendant of Gilgal Methodist Church of Abbeville, South Carolina, and adored the people there. He enjoyed working on cars and was a member of the Old 96 Model A Club. Often reminiscing over past stories, Louis loved every minute of his life.
Louis will be missed by his wife, Diane Chartier; his daughter, Melissa Bourney; adopted son, Louis Chartier; stepsons, Matthew (Sarah) Cramer, Zachary Cramer; and Ernest “TJ” (Sarah) Jordan and John Krebs, who were like sons to him; grandchildren, Madeleine, Cecelia, Isabelle, and Lucas Cramer, and Braxten, Hayden, Mckinley, Cade, and Lydia Jordan. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Loretta Chartier, and 11 brothers and sisters. Louis was the last remaining Chartier from his clan.
