Lucille Jean Williams' Obituary
Age 92, of Summit Township, passed away Friday, August 12, 2022 at Brightside Assisted Living and Memory Care. Lucille was born in Jackson, Michigan on Tuesday, November 12, 1929 to the late Lester W. and Arlene L. (maiden-Jones) Holliday. She is survived by two sons; John Williams of Fowlerville and David Samson, grandchildren; Aaron (Confetti) Samson, Holliday (Brent) Darling, Lauren (James) Phelps, great-grandchildren; Alexander, Athena and Sophia Samson, Wilma Darling, Julia and Melanie Phelps, step-grandchildren; Larry "Chip", James and Becky Williams, sister; Edna Kolchensky, brother; William Holliday, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; Sturgell C. "Spud" in 1996, daughter-in-law; Elizabeth Samson and step-son and his wife; Larry and Beverly Williams. Lucille retired as an Account Supervisor from the State of Michigan Department of Corrections after a long career, was a talented quilter and had belonged to the Jackson Area Pieces and Patches Quilting Guild. Lucille also served food at the Interfaith Shelter. She will be remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Lucille was a long time member of the Jackson Calvary United Methodist Church (925 Backus St., Jackson, MI 49202) where services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at noon with Rev. Lillian French officiating. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time. Contributions in her memory are directed to the Calvary United Methodist Church or the Jackson Interfaith Shelter.
