Lyle Duaine Pittman's Obituary
PITTMAN, LYLE DUAINE
Lyle Duaine Pittman, age 85, of Napoleon Township, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2024, at his home in Grand Island, FL. He was born on May 31, 1939, in Norvell Township to Merl and Beryl Pittman. Lyle graduated from Napoleon High School in 1958 and raised his family in the Norvell and Napoleon Township areas. After a dedicated career as the head grocer at Kroger, Lyle retired and moved to Florida, where he spent many years with the love of his life, Leah Usherwood, who survives him.
Throughout his life, Lyle was passionate about sports, and had a special talent for working on cars, constantly striving to make them faster. He rarely missed an opportunity to swing his driver, crank the RPMs in his Corvette, knock down 10 pins, ride his motorcycle, or book his next cruise. Yet, his greatest joy came from watching his children and grandchildren pursue their own hobbies and interests. He found fulfillment in their happiness and achievements, and his legacy lives on in the cherished memories of those moments shared with his family.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Merl and Beryl Pittman; his daughter, Shari Jones; his siblings, Leon Pittman and Louraine Yeager; and his grandson, Jarrett Knickerbocker. He is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his sons, Duaine Pittman and Jamie Pittman (Crystal); his partner, Leah Usherwood; his grandchildren, Meagan Padulano (Christopher), Chelsea Jones, Kaitlynn Panak (Zack), Austin Pittman, Kallie Pittman, Bryant Knickerbocker (Breanne), and Shelby Pittman; and his great-grandchildren, Sienna, Nolan, Oliver, Liam, Christopher, Nicholas, Luca, and Isabelle, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Lyle’s life will be held at Eineder Funeral Homes in Michigan Center on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 3PM -7pm. A private interment of ashes will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Napoleon.
