Lymon S. Shanes' Obituary
Shanes, Lymon S. Formerly of Michigan Center, of Union City, Tennessee, age 89, passed away at the Allegiance Hospice Home on Saturday, June 29, 2013. He is survived by three children, Patricia (James) Buckland, Jeannette (Larry) Jenkins and Ric (Peggy) Shanes; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Estelle McClung and Mary (Harold Presley) Wilson; several nieces and nephews, including special nephew Ernie Davidson and his wife Janet. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen R.; daughter, Betty R. Austin; son, Thomas Shanes; three brothers, James T., Charles V. and George M. Shanes Jr.; and his parents, George M. Sr. and Beulah Shanes. Lymon was an Army Veteran of World War II, a retiree of Clark Equipment Company, an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting, loved to play cards and tended a large vegetable garden. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who always put his family's needs first. Services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday 11 am with Rev. Richard Brooks officiating. Interment Leoni Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, July 2, 2014 from 5-8 pm. Contributions in his memory are directed to the Allegiance Hospice Home. Graveside military honors provided by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team.
