Marian E. Martens' Obituary
Martens, Marian E. (Baumann, maiden-Bartholomew) age 97, of Troy, Michigan, passed away August 29, 2014 at the Summit Park Assisted Living Center. She is survived by two children, Alfred (Cherry) Baumann, III and Gregory (Betty) Baumann, her daughter-in-law Barbara Baumann (Jeffrey), her sister Martha M. Bartholomew, four step-children, Christopher J. Martens, Margaret E. Martens, David A. Martens (Susie) and Peter J. Martens, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Louis Baumann Jr., husband Herbert Martens, son Jeffrey Baumann, step-son Jonathan Martens, and brothers and sisters Marjorie R. Bartholomew, Frank S. Bartholomew, and Franklin Bartholomew. She was a retired Pre-School Teacher and a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 1800 W. Maple, Birmingham, Michigan 48009, where a Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held September 15, 2014 at 11:00 am and a reception will follow the services. Her family will greet visitors from 10:00 am until service time. If desired, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Her cremated remains will be interred with her late husband Alfred in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, Michigan. Marian devoted her life to others as a caring, loving and dedicated daughter, wife, and mother. Those fortunate enough to share her life with her grew, prospered, and succeeded in life in a large part because of the values she passed on. The memories and lessons learned will live on.
