Marlene Barbara Wheaton's Obituary
"She lived and laughed and loved and left."
Age 83, of Vandercook Lake, passed away at her home February 21, 2018 under the loving care of her family and Great Lakes Caring Hospice. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, James R. Wheaton, four children, Mike Wheaton, Barbara (Bill) Thayer, Jeff Wheaton and Daniel (Tammy) Wheaton, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, bonus daughter, Tonja Wheaton, her sister, Jeanine Free, several nieces, nephews and best friend, Elaine Weaver. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Baby Ruth Abigail and Elisha Solomon Voss, sister, Kaye Rowley, brother Bill Free and her parents, Ernest W. and Vera G. (Sweezy) Free. She retired from Aeroquip Corporation, was active in the Red Hat Society and TOPS. Marlene had a beautiful singing voice, performing many years with the Sweet Adelines. Mrs. Wheaton has been cremated. A Celebration of Marlene's life will be held at the Trinity Lutheran School (4900 McCain Rd., Jackson, MI 49201) on Saturday March 3, 2018 from 2 to 5 pm, with her children sharing memories at 2:30 pm. Light refreshments to follow. Contributions in her memory are directed to Great Lakes Caring Hospice (900 Cooper St., Jackson MI 49202).
