Martha Ruth Farrell's Obituary
Martha Ruth Farrell, 92, of Brooklyn, Michigan passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Henry Ford Hospice Home, Jackson. Martha’s family and friends will gather Friday, June 26, 2026 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Eineder Funeral Homes – Brooklyn Chapel. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. Chaplin Bart Hall will officiate. Burial of ashes will follow the service at Highland Cemetery, Brooklyn.

She was born on November 14, 1933 in Brooklyn, Michigan, to Shirley and Gladah (Ellis) English. Martha married the love of her life, the late Leonard Farrell, on April 1, 1951, in Brooklyn, Michigan. They were childhood sweethearts that celebrated 70 years together, before his passing. She will be remembered as a great cook and baker, especially her pies. Martha is a Brooklyn High School graduate, class of 1951. She worked for the Brooklyn Exponent for many years as a lady’s columnist. Martha was a longtime supporter and president of Rebekah’s Lodge. She also attended monthly card parties and was a member of the Jefferson Book Club. Martha had a fun personality and passed that along to her daughters, along with her cooking techniques. She was a 50-year member of the Brooklyn Presbyterian Church. Earlier she enjoyed spending time with her family camping at Silver Lake Campgrounds and she was a huge Detroit Tigers fan. She and Leonard moved to Florida and she remained active in the community there as well. Martha will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Martha is survived by her children, Shirley (Michael) Doty, Julia Farrell and Sarah Kaplan; grandchildren, Valerie (Steve) Ferency, Matthew (Sara) McCutheon, and Geoffrey (Emily) McCutcheon great grandchildren, Melody and Lyric Ferency, Shanea and Elijah McCutcheon, Emma and Harry McCutcheon. She is preceded in death by her parents, Shirley and Gladah; husband, Leonard and sister, Doris Silkworth.
