Martha Sue Shuberg's Obituary
Age 54, of Lake LeAnn, MI, passed away in Palmetto, FL on May 8, 2021. She was born to Walter and Juanita Shuberg, Sr., who preceded her in death. Martha is survived by sisters, Elaine (Paul) Kalbarczyk, Eileen (Tracy) Bolenbaugh and Marjorie Hochstetler; brother, Walter (Jean) Shuberg, Jr.; niece, Kristy Soper; nephews, Joe Kalbarczyk, Jeff Knapp, Greg Knapp, Brian Knapp, Justin Shuberg and Walter Shuberg III; several great nieces and nephews; special friends, Jackie Johnson, Dena Decker, Evonne Carhart and Anne Richmond.
Martha was considered a hero to many as she struggled with kidney disease. She was positive and encouraging as she endured three kidney transplants, dialysis and 68 surgeries/hospital procedures in her lifetime.
Martha earned a Master's Degree in Social Work at the University of Michigan. She was a social worker and play therapist throughout Jackson and Hillsdale Counties. She always had a heart of gold. Martha was an avid U of M sports fan and loved wearing all of her U of M gear.
She loved music, singing, dancing and dressing up for every holiday in special holiday outfits. She enjoyed traveling and visited 49 of the 50 states. Martha loved her cats. Martha was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ.
Martha's family will receive friends, with masking and Covid guidelines in place, at Arthur-Day Funeral Home, 820 Fifth St., Michigan Center on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 5 to 8 pm. Private family services will be held on Thursday, May, 20, 2021 with interment following at Woodland Cemetery. The service will be live-streamed on the funeral home website at www.arthur-day.com at 1:00 pm Thursday; under Martha's obituary, please select the live-stream icon.
