Mary L. Brooks' Obituary
Age 81, of Jackson, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2021 at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home. Mary was born in Bunkerhill Township on October 19, 1939 to Elwood and Florence (Durfee) Quinn. Along with raising her family, Mary worked in healthcare for 45 years; from Nurse Aide, to LPN, to earning her Registered Nursing Degree while she worked at Mercy and Foote Memorial Hospitals. Mary's greatest focus and joy in life was her family. She was a hard worker who enjoyed gardening, her love of flowers and cooking meals to enjoy with her family. She is loved very much by family and friends.
Mary is survived by her husband of 62 years, John; six children, Suzanne Brooks, Lynette Brooks, Steven Brooks (Lonnie Ward), Amy (John) Steffey, James Brooks and Jill (Jay) Vowels; five grandchildren, Shane Mayotte, Katelyn and Olivia Vowels, Lindsey and Alex Steffey; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Quinn, Joe Quinn and Bill Spencer; three sisters, Sandy Decker, Judy Kreische and Theresa Corder; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, John David Brooks in 1962 and a sister, Barbara Brown.
Mary was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church where a Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 11 am with Father Satheesh Alphonse, SdC officiating. Visitation will be held at Arthur-Day Funeral Home, 820 Fifth Street, Michigan Center, MI on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm and at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park. For those who wish, contributions in Mary's memory may be given to Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 915 Napoleon Road, Michigan Center, MI 49254 or the American Cancer Society.
