Mary Elizabeth Herman's Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Herman, age 60, passed away May 3, 2023. She was born on April 22, 1963, in Jackson, Michigan to Richard Prater and Anita (Brown) Prater. Mary married the love of her life, Doug Herman, on April 28, 1984, in Brooklyn, Michigan. Doug and Mary spent 39 years happily married. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. Mary’s most favorite times were spent with her grandchildren. She also loved to do counted cross stitch and knit Afghan blankets. Many of her friends and family have received gifts that were specially made just for them. Mary was not afraid to try any task. She was even known to have crawled under her favorite Vega she used to have and fix the clutch. Of course, she was the only one small enough to be able to crawl under the car, but she did learn to fix it. Mary was also a huge animal lover. She was even known to take in a snail that was nearly hit by a car and had a couple of chinchillas that had a baby when they were in her car. Mary loved to groom dogs and chose that for her profession for many years.
Mary will be missed by her beloved husband, Doug; her children, Amy (Randy) Hippensteel and Josh (Lindsay) Prater, siblings, Larry (Donna) Prater, Kevin (Bev) Prater, Chari (Joe) Craw, and twin brother Jon (Allison) Prater, grandchildren Cheyenne, Jordyn and Kayleb Hippensteel, Benjamin Herman and Celena Martinez along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Anita Prater.
