Mary Elizabeth Pietila's Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Pietila, 76, of Napoleon passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Henry Ford Jackson Hospice Home, Jackson. Mary’s family and friends will gather Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Eineder Funeral Homes – Brooklyn Chapel. Her memorial service to follow at 11:00 am. Pastor Josh Lilly of Crossroads Community Church in Stockbridge will officiate. Burial of ashes will follow at Pinckney Cemetery 1:00 pm.
She was born on December 8, 1946, in Shady Spring, West Virginia to Herbert and Mae (Bragg) Plumley. Mary married Clarence Pietila, Sr., on April 16, 1988, in Pinckney, Michigan. She will be remembered as very active, determined woman. Mary is a graduate of Howell High School. She enjoyed playing cards, jigsaw puzzles and was big on her yardwork. Mary worked at Thetford Corporation from 1988 – 2008 and then Martin Rea in Manchester for over a year. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by her son, Clarence Pietila, Jr of Howell, MI; stepchildren Tracy (Jeff) Valentine of Port St. Charlotte, FL and Steven Pietila of Farmington Hills, MI; a sister, Shirley Cox, brother-in-law, Bill Ostrander and Jim (Paula) Pietila; grandson, Erik Wist; great granddaughters, Elizabeth and Eva Wist; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Dawn and Leonard Lewis, Patti Robinson, Connie Engle, Vicki Surque, Judi Crysler, Sandy Miller, Sharon Berzkalns, Debbie Naylor, and Linda Russell. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence Sr., and daughter, Lysie Wist.
