Maurice Rex Crawford's Obituary
Maurice Rex Crawford, 86, of Jackson, MI, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Heart to Heart Hospice in Jackson, MI. Maurice’s family and friends will gather from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the Brooklyn Presbyterian Church: 160 N. Main St. His funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with burial afterwards at Norvell Cemetery: 12810 Austin Rd. Rev. Dr. David Weber will officiate.
He was born on September 30, 1938, in Cambria, MI, to Garrett and Suzannah (Stinger) Crawford. Maurice graduated from North Adams High School. He married Diane Elo, on May 29, 1999. Maurice was employed by the city of Jackson Police Department for 30 years and was a detective for most of those years. He was a skilled carpenter, an avid golfer and loved animals, especially horses and dogs. The most important thing in his life was his family. Maurice was a loving father and grandfather.
Maurice will be missed by his wife of 26 years, Diane Crawford; his children, Jonathan (Terri) Crawford and Cindy (Patrick) Bruntjens; his grandchildren, Paul (Melanie) Gross, Katharine (Joshua) Gross, Jacob Crawford and Jenna Crawford; his great grandchildren, Tristan Gross and Eric Gross; his step daughter, Heather (Jeff) McRae; and his step grandchildren, Colleen McRea and Zachary McRea. He is preceded in death by his parents, Garrett and Suzannah Crawford; his loving wife of 35 years, Sandra (Peek) Crawford; his brothers, Robert Crawford, Walter Crawford and Clinton Crawford; and his sisters, Gladys Lamb and Penny Scheick.
