Melvin H. Reeser's Obituary
Age 85, of Jackson, formerly of Cement City, passed away peacefully at the Allegiance Hospice Home, surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 31, 2015. He was born to Ray and Marie (Hague) Reeser on January 9, 1930 in Cement City. Mel is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bonnie J. (Cheetham); sons, Terry ""Bim"" (Peggy), Randy (Karen) and Kevin (Pam); daughters, Monica (Dave) Curl, Vicki (DJ) James, Melodie (Don) Trapp and Lori (Todd) King; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma (Warren) Swartz. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marcia; parents; brothers, William, Howard and Robert and sisters, Ruth and Millie. Mel was a proud U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and was a retired truck driver after 36 years of service. His family was the love of his life and they shared so many fun times together; he was an avid sports enthusiast. Funeral services will be held at First Church of the Nazarene, 3905 Clinton Road (M-50) on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 11:00 am with Pastor Phil Stout officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm and at the church on Thursday from 10 am until service time. Military honors courtesy of the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project, First Church of the Nazarene or Allegiance Hospice Home would be appreciated. Mel's family would like to thank Dr. Robertson and the Allegiance Critical Care Unit and the staff members for the care and compassion given to him.
