Michael Joseph Hill's Obituary
Michael Joseph Hill, 86, of Clarklake, Michigan, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025 at Michigan Medicine. Mike’s family will hold a Celebration of Life, Sunday, August 17, 2025 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the Hills' Heart of the Lakes Golf Course, 500 Case Road, Brooklyn, Michigan. His funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm with Pastor Cody Moorehead as officiant.
Mike graduated from St. Mary’s High School, much to the joy of the nuns, in 1957 and joined the Air Force upon graduation. After his service in the military, he attended Jackson Junior College and Arizona State University on golf scholarships. Before Mike made his way onto the PGA Tour in 1968, he worked as a beer truck driver for Drewry’s, a Goodyear Tire employee and the Head Pro at Tecumseh Country Club. Mike always said it was better to be lucky than good, but perhaps he was both, as he exemplified that idea with 3 PGA Tour wins and 18 official Senior Tour (Champions Tour) wins, but he remained a farm boy at heart.
Mike was noted for his hard work and dedication to his golf course, his farm but especially his family. He reflected his passion for nature in his desire to present a gorgeous course for all golf enthusiasts; he split his free time nurturing those grounds and his beloved 150-acre farm.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sandy; his children, Kristen Hill (Ernie Groeb) and Michael (Mimi) Hill, Jr.; a brother, George F. (Nancy Jo) Hill; grandchildren Madison Lane (Nick Aniol), Sam Henry, Michael Hill III, and Jake Hill; great grandchildren Reagan and Jude Keena; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kim Hill (Schwartz); sisters, Anna Mae Rhoades, Margaret Moss; and brothers, Dave and Bill Hill.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Tunnels for Towers and the Wounded Warrior Project. Please leave a message of comfort for Mike’s family or sign his guestbook at www.EinederFuneralHomes.com.
