Michael Arthur Pickell's Obituary
Michael Arthur Pickell, 73, of Jonesville, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at home with his family by his side. Mike’s family and friends will gather Friday, August 22, 2025 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 am at the Cement City Baptist Church. Interment to follow at the Cement City Baptist Memorial Garden. Pastor Drew Woods will officiate.
He was born on August 15, 1951 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Harold and Lea (Lytle) Pickell. Mike married the love of his life, Elva Aguirre, on June 24, 1978, in Ypsilanti, Michigan at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He will be remembered for his creativity and devotion to his family. Mike is a Pinckney High School alumni and attended Washtenaw Community College for a degree in art. Mike proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Marines, he then stayed as a reservist until 1975. He retired from Ford in 2009, after 32 years of service. Mike was a gifted artist that sold several pieces and passed that talent on to his granddaughter, Lea. He also enjoyed playing his guitar continuing to take lessons. Mike was an avid outdoorsman, loved to hunt with his son Joseph, and buddies, Allen and Matthew. Also enjoyed fishing with family and friends. He attended the Cement City Baptist Church and had daily worship with his wife, Elva. Mike was a huge Detroit Tigers fan that also enjoyed to whittle wood with his grandson, Evan. Above all Mike cherished his time with his family, especially his wife, making sure she was always taken care of.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Elva; his children, Michael (Jeannette) Jr., Brigette LaValle, Autum Pickell-Terryah and Tiffney (Michael) Little; a sister, Mary (Kelly) Groomes; grandchildren Tamara, Evan, Lea, Annaleigha, Aiden, Amelia, Tashia, Kyleigh, Joseph and Olivia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lea; a son, Joseph Pickell and brothers, Harold and James Pickell.
