Michael W. Smith's Obituary
Michael William Smith, 76, of Napoleon Township, passed away Friday, October 3, 2025 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in Jackson. Mike was born in Jackson, MI on July 30, 1949 to the late William Sidney Smith and Mary Kathryn (Enners) Smith. He married Cathy Lynn Price on Saturday, June 3, 1978 creating a loving partnership of 47 years. He is the loving father of Brein (Bryan Plummer) Smith and Brenna (Mckenna) Long, Dawn Marie (George) Ehrlich and Michael Gibbs. Also, survived by eight grandchildren: Evan (Kylie) Smith, Ian (Bailey Jewell) Smith, Shep and Hayes Long, Chelsea (Chris) Ehrlich, Mikey, Breanna, Kourtney; two great-grandsons; Barrett Smith and Apollo Ehrlich; brother, Bruce Smith; sister, Sandy (Mike) Jessup, and several nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Jackson High School Class of 1967. Mike proudly served in the United States Air Force based in Klamath Falls, OR, Newfoundland and Iceland. For many years he owned and operated Michael’s Music and Games; was a truck driver and then became the Technical Game Director for the Chuck E. Cheese Franchise for many years. He was an all-around handyman, he could fix and build anything, including the home his family lives in. He loved watching the Detroit Lions, model railroading, planning road trips, and traveling in the RV. He could often be found on his John Deere doing yard work and helping neighbors.
He was one of the original members of The Disclosure Project which was aimed at total disclosure about UFO information withheld by the government.
Cremation has taken place and no public services will be held. He will be interred with Full Military Honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Battle Creek, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly encourages you to honor Mike’s memory by spending meaningful time with those you love.
