Mikelis ""Mike"" G. Berzkalns' Obituary
BERZKALNS, MIKELIS ""Mike"" G. Age 60, of Napoleon Township, passed away unexpectedly Friday, February 7, 2014 while in Milwaukee on a business trip. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ansis and Velta (Junkulis) Berzkalns. Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Sharon; three children, Kristaps Ansis Berzkalns of Kalamazoo, Anna Elizabeth Berzkalns (fiancAC. Jim McGrail) of Oklahoma City and Nikolajs Pauls (Natalie) Berzkalns of Alexandria, LA; three brothers, Pete Berzkalns (Anita Parent) of Clinton, Jake (Renate) Berzkalns of Byron Center and Paul (Ilga) Berzkalns of Latvia; one sister, Rita Lowery (Rod Carls) of Three Rivers; one niece, five nephews, and his mother-in-law, Katie Arbanas. Mike was employed by American Hofmann as a Service Engineer. He was a member of the Napoleon Lions Club; he and his family raised several puppies for the Leader Dogs for the Blind of Rochester, MI. Mike was proud of his family and of his Latvian ancestry. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Michigan Center where a Memorial Mass will be held to celebrate his life on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11:00 am with Father Tim MacDonald officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm. Contributions in his memory may be given to Leader Dogs for the Blind or to his family for future designation.
