Mildred Howard's Obituary
Age 91, of Michigan Center, passed away at her home on October 31, 2022 under the loving care of her family and Elara Caring Hospice.
Mildred was born in Martin County, Kentucky in 1930, the daughter of Roland and Zelphia (Preece) Gauze. Mildred raised her children between Kentucky and Michigan, finally settling in Michigan Center. She worked as a cook for many years at A&W, as a clerk at her son's gas station in Michigan Center but first and foremost she was a wonderful homemaker and mother to her children. She was a longtime member of both Page Avenue Baptist and Grace Church.
Mildred is survived by her son, Danny (Ruth) Howard of Michigan Center; five grandsons, Daniel (Tessa) Howard, Anthony (LeeAnn) Howard, Larry Howard, Christopher (Valerie) Swearengin and David (Mary) Swearengin; nine great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; brother, Vadis Gauze; sister, Ruby Pigg; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Howard; daughter, Kathie Maurer; and siblings, Lucian Gauze, Orville Gauze, Freelin Gauze, Sherman Gauze, James Gauze, Ekil Gauze, Flora Moore, Florence Hale, Hazel Gauze and Minerva Jones.
Funeral Services to honor and remember Mildred's life will be held at Arthur-Day Funeral Home in Michigan Center on Friday, November 4, 2022 at 11:00 am with Rev. Rich Ratts officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the services. Interment will take place at the Page Avenue Baptist Church Cemetery.
