Milo ""Mike"" Taber's Obituary
Taber, Milo ""Mike"" Age 97, passed away October 23, 2013. He is survived by his nephew, Latrill (Mickey) Maguire of Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Alta (Avery) Taber and two sisters, Oleta Raviler and Rolene Maguire. Milo was born in Algansee Township, Branch County, MI on November 16, 1915. He lived in Quincy, MI for three years and then moved to Chelsea, where he graduated from High School in 1934 and served as Class President. He enlisted in the US Coast Guard Cutter Service as Apprentice Seamen in March of 1935 and served 22 years, retiring as a Senior Lieutenant in June of 1957 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. He was a life member of the following organizations, Chelsea Lodge #156 Free and Accepted Masons, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter # in Ketchican, Alaska, Disabled American Veterans William SparksPost #10, Veterans of Foreign Wars Grass Lake Post #10194, Military Officers Association of Alexandria, Virginia. He was former Township Supervisor in Kinross Township, Chippewa County, MI, loved to hunt at his UP camp, fish in Alaska and after retirement, researched his genealogical heritage back to 1066. He lived in Michigan Center for over 30 years before moving to Summit Park Assisted Living Center for the past eight years. He will be greatly missed and remembered for his sense of humor, his enjoyment of spending time with his loved ones and his candor. A special thanks to the Staff at Summit Park who provided Milo with kindness and care over these past years. At his request cremation has taken place. Graveside interment of his cremains with Military Honors by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team will be held Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
