Nancy Mae Kirby's Obituary
Age 86, formerly of Vandercook Lake, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at the Henry Ford Hospice Home surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born in Mendon, Michigan on Thursday, June 25, 1936 to the late Charles Leonard and Orpha Louise (Noble) Lockwood.
She is survived by five children, William (Jill) Kirby, Sheryl (Steve) Wilson, Victoria (Peter) Burgard, Lois (Jim) Taylor and Melissa (Jim) Fitzworth; son-in-law, Ron Gianni; 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, brother; Tom (Karlyn) Lockwood, sister; Peggy Daly, several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Thomas A. Kirby in 2007, her dear daughter, Ruth Ann Gianni in 2017 and three siblings; Don Lockwood, Alice Bissell and Lois Rice.
Nancy was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She made the practice of her deep faith a prime importance in her life. She truly cared for those in need and spent much time visiting shut-ins, helping where she could and being a source of love and support to all she could. She enjoyed music, and writing plays and skits. She was a lifelong member of the Vandercook Baptist Church.
Private interment has taken place at Roseland Memorial Gardens. A public Celebration of Life will be held at Vandercook Baptist Church (703 E. McDevitt Ave.) on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:00 am. The family wishes to thank the staff of Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home and the Jackson County Medical Care Facility for their dedicated and compassionate care of our mother. Contributions in her memory are directed to the Henry Ford Hospice Home (2150 Kingsbrooke Drive, Jackson, MI 49202).
