Norma Jean Dean's Obituary
Age 86, of Michigan Center, passed away at her home August 7, 2019 under the loving care of her family and Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 66 years; Richard E. Dean, two daughters; Beth (Robert) Tavalsky and Terri Dean, three grandchildren; David Richard Holubowicz, Jessica Ellen Willard and Trisha Ann Taylor, four great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Benjamin F. and Edna G. (maiden-Terry) Tharp. Norma was born in Vandalia, Illinois and moved to Michigan Center in 1945. She graduated from Michigan Center High School in 1951 then pursued training as a Dental Assistant at the Elkhart, Indiana Dental School in 1952. She married Richard June 6, 1953. She cherished her job in the office of Fred Burgett, DDS, for 26 years. She enjoyed tap dancing and antiquing and was a life-long member of St. Aidan's Episcopal Church. Norma was a loving wife, wonderful mother and grandmother and a great friend to many. At her request, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 10 am until noon, where memories and stories of a life well lived will be shared. Contributions in her memory are directed to the Cascades Humane Society. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Henry Ford Allegiance Department of Hematology/Oncology as well as the HFA Hospice.
