Norman Dale Lenhart's Obituary
Age 94, of Manchester, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2022 at St. Joseph Mercy - Chelsea. Norm was born in Jackson, Michigan on Monday, March 26, 1928 to the late Robert E. and Meda E. (Brown) Lenhart. He is survived by his four children; Norma Fillyaw, Debbie (James) Mahan, Jim Lenhart and Mark Lenhart, grandchildren; Christopher (Sandra) Fillyaw, Ryan (Nicole) Lenhart, Ashley (Derick) Hannewald, Tracie (Bradley) Kramer, Kelli (Andrew) Ayres and Bethany Mahan, several great-grandchildren, sister in law; Delores Lenhart. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife; Gertrud Julie (Haas) Lenhart, brother Robert Lenhart Jr., sisters; Norma Lenhart and Helen Hosmer and grandson; Eric Fillyaw. Norm served the nation in the US Air Force, earned his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan. He retired from Spartan Corporation in Jackson and then worked for the Environmental Protection Agency for many years. He was a gifted musician, playing tuba and baritone and performed many years with the Manchester Brass Band and the Napoleon Lions Community Band. In his younger days he enjoyed working in his garden. He attended the Norvell Community Baptist Church (204 E. Commercial Drive, Norvell, MI) where services will be held Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 11 am with Pastor Ned Bernstein officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manchester. Graveside Military Honors will be offered by the Manchester American Legion Post #203. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 am until service time. Contributions in Norm's memory are directed to the church.
