Ogden Adkins' Obituary
Age 82 of Clarklake, MI, passed away Tuesday January 20, 2015 under the care of the University of Michigan Hospital. Ogden Adkins, born July 20th 1932, he was the son of Lonnie and Ona (Fultz) Adkins and husband of Mary Ann Adkins who preceded him in death. He is survived by two sons Scott Adkins and Brad Adkins; also, grandson Andrew Adkins who is his pride and joy, all of Clarklake, MI; siblings are John (Sue) Adkins of Jackson, MI, Phyllis (Dick dec'd)Rogers of Martin, TN, Dovie (Calvin) Myers of Harbor Springs, MI, Loyadell (Roger dec'd) Schrotenboer of Las Vegas, NV, Jim (Karen) Adkins Jackson, MI, Dempsey (Virginia) Adkins of Martin, TN, Larry (Kitty) Adkins of Saline, MI and many nieces and nephews. He graduated from Napoleon High School Class of 1951. Ogden started his 35 year career in the automobile business selling cars in the Jackson area, making many friends and achieving many awards along the way. As a young man he also worked as a clothing model for the Jacobson's Dept. Store. Ogden was very involved in his community; as a member of the Clarklake Lions Club he was ""Lion of the Year"" in 1983-84 and 2000-01; awarded the Clarklake Spirit Club ""Mary Reynolds Spirit of Clarklake Award"" in 2005; he was very instrumental in moving the Graziani house to the east end of the lake and forming the Clarklake Community Center. Ogden enjoyed the great outdoors, hunting and fishing trips to Montana and Canada, traveling to all 48 states by motorhome with his family; and great vacation adventures to Alaska and Hawaii with Mary Ann. Ogden enjoyed very much watching and participating in his grandson Andrew growing up; attending all forms of athletic activities as a very proud grandparent and sharing scholastic achievements with friends and strangers. In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Luncheon will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Clark Lake Community Center, 3740 Ocean Beach Road, Clarklake, MI 49234. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions in his honor be made to the American Cancer Society, 1755 Abbey Road, East Lansing, MI 48823 or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation chapter near you or go to www.jdrf.org
