Phillip Michael Herzberg's Obituary
Phillip Michael Herzberg (The Great Outdoorsman), 76, of Jackson passed away suddenly November 23, 2022. Phil’s family and friends will gather Monday, November 28, 2022 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with his Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am. Fr. Tom Helfrich OSFS will serve as celebrant.
He was born on May 16, 1946 in Jackson, Michigan to Frank and Viola (Tucker) Herzberg and lived, hunted and fished in Jackson County his entire life. He worked at Jackson drop Fordge until his retirement. Phil married the love of his life, Rosemary Howard, on April 18, 1969 in Jackson, Michigan, and they had 53 wonderful years together in the same house. Phil will always be remembered for his passion for hunting and fishing. He was a generous person who always had a bag of fish or venison to give out. Phil’s fish-fries and fish tales were legendary. His biggest commitment and love was his wife, Rosemary. He spent the last 10 years taking care of her as she fought Alzheimer’s disease. Phil was a devoted husband and his ability to care for her at home should grant him a lofty place in heaven. His faith kept him going and despite the difficulties, he and Rosemary enjoyed the great outdoors and lots of Jeep rides together always side by side.
Phil leaves behind his loving wife, Rosemary; his children, Kim (Brian) Fulton and Jeff (Sarah Bernstein) Herzberg; siblings, Jean (Jerry) Bethel and Mark (Brenda) Herzberg; grandchildren Hunter, Brendon, Colton and Ethan; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Viola.
A special thank you to lifelong friends, Carol Molten, Phyllis (Leon) Pittman, Megan (Tom) Nixon, Uncle Ray Townsend and Father Tom Helfrich. Your love and generosity will never be forgotten.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. Please leave a message of comfort for Phil’s family or sign his guestbook at www.EinederFuneralHomes.com.
