Raymond Joseph Poremba's Obituary
Raymond Joseph Poremba, age 76, of Brooklyn, MI, passed away on April 16, 2026 surrounded by family and loved ones.
He was born on March 8, 1950 in Detroit, MI to Joseph and Agnes Poremba. He graduated high school from Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit in 1968. He then attended Henry Ford Community College where he met Bonnie Turner when he was 18 years old. On August 22, 1969, they were married.
Ray earned an undergraduate degree from the U of M Dearborn and a master’s degree from Wayne State University. He retired from a career at Ford Motor Company in 2003. His career began working the assembly line at Woodhaven Stamping Plant. He went on to work primarily in Labor Relations and Human Resources. He was very proud of his career, mostly because of the people he was able to help along the way.
Above all else, Ray was a devoted husband to Bonnie for 56 years, an ever-present Dad to Jenni and Holly and the proudest “Papa” of his five grandkids.
Ray was known for being a jack-of-all trades. He was a pontoon boat captain, an excellent artist, writer, a licensed builder, an interior designer, an expert organizer, a lighting connoisseur, a critical thinker and a problem solver, just to name a few. He kept the view looking sharp, washing one window at a time. He made the best breakfast, killer backyard sled runs, big bonfires and beautiful Christmas light displays. He never said no when he was asked for help and always showed up for his family, friends and neighbors. He loved God and loved his family. He cherished the time he was able to spend with them and often referred to himself as “the most blessed man alive”.
Ray is survived by his wife Bonnie, his children Jennifer Carmack (Robin) and Holly Delaney (Matt), his grandchildren Zackary, Brady, Dylan, Chloe and Corey. He is also survived by his beloved brother Ron Poremba (Dena) and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Agnes.
In accordance with Ray’s final wishes, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held
at St. Rita Catholic Church in Clarklake, MI on May 6th at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ray Poremba Memorial Education Fund at this link:
