Rev. Milan and Margaret Maybee were very instrumental in my salvation at the Caledonia United Brethern Church. They lived a couple of doors down from my house. They both will be greatly missed. My parents were friends of the Maybees, as we were all part of the United Brethren In Christ church. When my church didn't have enough teens to have a Bible Quiz team, Rev. Maybee invited me to be a part of the Heart O' of the Lakes quiz team. He was a great encouragement to me for many years, as was his wife, Margaret. They will be missed.
Reverend Maybee was always a gentle soul when I talked with him. Each time I saw him he would correct me if I made the mistake of saying he married me. Lol He would tell me, " I performed the ceremony, you were the one married. My prayers go up for the entire family. May You all find peace for this loss.
It is a privilege to have known Milan as a fellow pastor and to see how God used Him in so many ways to share the love of Jesus Christ. His family is able to remember a legacy of love and dedication to God. May God provide comfort and strength as you work through these next few weeks and months. Steve Smith, Lake View Church
It was my privilege to work with Rev. Maybee at the at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home on a few occasions. Though I did not get to know him well, it was clear that he love God and people. May the God of all comfort be with you all.
Always a kind person and you could always depend on him to say or give great insight in difficult times. I remember when his family came to Brooklyn and us kids referred to him as "King Buzz" (as in King Buzzard). A moniker that I still called him (much to his chagrin) every time our paths would cross throughout the years. He always tolerated me, would talk and tell stories with me, shake my hand and send me off in a good mood. I'll miss you King Buzz, you were an inspiration to all who had the privilege to cross your path.
On a whim, Milan gave me a picture he burned on wood, but God directed him to do it. He had no idea how significant it would be to me. I'll treasure it forever, along with my good memories of both silly and serious moments. Milan was the best at both of them. There's a big empty space in my world without Milan and Margaret.
