Richard "Dick" Allan Bell, Sr's Obituary
Age 79, a long time resident of Wolf Lake, Napoleon, passed away September 12, 2020 at McLaren Greater Lansing. He was the beloved husband of Yvonne E. (Gilbert) Bell being married 54 years; father of two children, Richard (Wendy) Bell and Brian Bell; brother of Lester (Sara) Bell Jr.; grandfather of six: Allison, Mickaila, Samantha (Robert), Chance, Jacob and Courtney; and great-grandfather of Kollin and Elena. Preceded in death by his sister, Judy and his parents, Lester W. and Helen (Dearing) Bell Sr. Dick was born in Valparaiso, Indiana April 5th, 1941. He served the nation during the Vietnam War in the US Air Force. He retired after 40 years of work as a tech specialist at the Xerox Corporation. He held a private pilot's license and for many years he ferried Maule Aircrafts to Alaska. Over the years he owned one small aircraft. Back in the day, he was an avid snowmobiler making uncounted trips north and as far as Yellowstone, where his prowess as a trailside mechanic was truly appreciated by his fellow snowmobilers. In the past few years he loved rafting on Wolf Lake, spending time with his late canine friends, Pepper and Brandy, and more recently riding his Spyder. Dick has been cremated. To honor his memory, the family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, October 4, 2020 from 2-4 pm. Cooperation with the current restrictions is expected. The visitation will end promptly at 4 pm so the family can have a private service with the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team to honor Dick's service to the nation. Contributions in his memory can be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
