Richard L. Griffus' Obituary
Age 72, of Jackson, passed away at Allegiance Health on Saturday, November 15, 2014. Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Joan; four children, Theresa (Brian Sr.) Ambs, Tina (Greg) Poling, Richard ""Rick"" Griffus (Melissa Sigers) and Joanna (Mike) Sears, all of Jackson; 12 grandchildren, Nicole (Brian), Brian Jr. (Jessica), Derek (Emily), Zach, Eric, Terry, Natosha, Richard III, Ashden, Cora, Baylee and Seth; six great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Damion, Darius, Marcus, Maverick and Braylin; three siblings, Raymond Lee (Priscilla) Abbey, Sharon (Howard) Scutt and Charlene Osborne; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five siblings, Loren, Leon, Leslie, Sandy and Madelyn. Richard was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and he worked as a Corrections Officer for many years, retiring from the Gus Harrison Facility in Adrian. Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 11 am with Pastor Phil Stout officiating. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Military Honors by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 pm. For those who wish, contributions in Richard's memory may be given to the American Cancer Society.
