Richard Judd Potter's Obituary
Richard “Rick” Judd Potter, 84, of Brooklyn passed away March 15, 2024. Rick’s family and friends will gather for visitation from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Eineder Funeral Homes – Brooklyn Chapel. His burial will take place Saturday March 23, 2024 at Arborcrest Memorial Park in Ann Arbor, Michigan at 2pm, where military rights will take place.
Rick was born on July 13, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan and raised by James and Cecile Potter in Plymouth. He joined the United States Army for two years, was in the reserves for four years and proudly served in Korea. Rick married the love of his life, Ruth Townsend, on March 20, 1965, in Belleville, Michigan and they enjoyed nearly 59 wonderful years together.
Rick was always an active athlete, beginning in high school playing for the Ann Arbor Pioneer High School football and basketball teams. He played football and basketball in the United States Army. Rick was a huge U of M fan and all other state of Michigan sports. Rick started a career at Michigan Consolidated Gas Company in 1961 and remained until he retired in 1996. He belonged to the Brooklyn American Legion, and was a lifelong member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Later in life, he enjoyed water sports, bowling and fishing. Rick was a very loving and sociable person, and will be missed by many friends and coworkers. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Rick will be greatly missed by his wife Ruth; his daughters, Darla (Michael) Dubin, Nicki (Chris) Pyne and Jennifer Potter (Quincy Bolden); sister, Sue (Mike) Moynihan; grandchildren, Matthew Dubin, Alex Dubin, Lauren Dubin, Logan Pyne, Kelsea Pyne, and Kyra Martin; nephews, Ryan and Michael Moynihan and niece, Katie Moynihan. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Cecile Potter, and brothers, Doug, Gary, and Greg.
