Robert "Bob" James Walker, Sr's Obituary
Robert (Bob) James Walker Sr, 82, of Jackson, Michigan passed away Sunday September 5, 2021 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family.
Bob was born in Jackson, Michigan on May 6, 1939 to Arthur and Lennah (Daniels) Walker. Bob attended Jackson High School, where he met his bride of 66 years, Lillian (Collins) Walker. Bob worked for over 50 years in the road construction business. He was a proud member of the Operating Engineers Local 324. Bob was known for his love of work, his ability to fix anything, a booming laugh and his voracious appetite for good food, especially his wife's apple pie. After retirement, Bob could often be found tending to his yard and holding court with his pals on Fieldstone Street, sharing stories and a cold drink. Bob was a giant of man, with a big personality and a soft touch. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a friend to everyone.
In addition to his wife, Lillian, Bob is survived by three of his children: Pam and Dan Smith of Jackson, Michigan, Brian and Colleen Walker of Naples, Florida. Sandy Walker of Jackson, Michigan; eight grandchildren, Robert Walker III, Nicole Bristow, Daniele Choudoir, Sam Walker, Melissa Walker, Stephanie Walker, Allison Creech, Julia Sitko and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert J Walker Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation (www.albinism.org) or the Institute for Vision Research at the University of Iowa (www.givetoiowa.org/IVR).
The family is planning a celebration of life to be announced at a future date.
