Robert Floyd Commet's Obituary
Robert Floyd Commet, 92, of Jackson passed away surrounded by his family at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital on February 23, 2024. Bob’s family and friends will gather Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm with a Rosary service at 7:00 pm at Eineder Funeral Homes – Michigan Center Chapel (Formerly Arthur-Day Funeral Home) and Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 11:00 am at Our Lady Fatima Catholic Church. Fr. Amal Rayabillai SdC will serve as celebrant. Burial will immediately follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery.
Bob was born on May 6, 1931, in Flint, Michigan to Floyd and Leone (Petiprin) Commet. He graduated from St. Matthew’s High School in 1949. He was a graduate of Ferris State University, as well as serving in the United States Army and the Navy Reserve. He owned and operated Commet Welcome Pharmacy for many years where he served his community with a compassionate heart. Bob was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Michigan Pharmacist Association, Michigan Center Lions Club and Rotary Club. He lived a very full life and had a wide range of interests. He traveled all around the world, played golf, and rooted for the Lions, Tigers, and University of Michigan sports. Bob will be most remembered as a man who adored his family completely. He had an incredibly strong Catholic faith that was central in his life with a great devotion to the Rosary.
Bob married Mary Donnelly in 1954 and they enjoyed 38 years of marriage until her passing in 1993. Bob married Sherryn Kwiatkowski in 1994 and they enjoyed 30 years of marriage. Bob proudly wore both wedding rings, saying they represented the best parts of his life.
Bob will be missed by his wife, Sherryn; his children, Pat (Becky) Commet, Rob (Yuka) Commet, Dan Commet, David Commet, Mark (Tricia) Commet, Kevin Commet, Gordon Kwiatkowski, Christina (Bryan) O’Shea, Tom (Erica) Kwiatkowski and Anna Commet; brother, John (Eunice) Commet; grandchildren, Jessica, Kelsi, Ryan, Kyler, Branden, Sara, Ben, Justin, Amber, Kaylee Su, David Li, Kim, Dustin, Tori, Kurtis, Jacob, Kylie, Haley, Lilian, John, Evelyn and Damien; and several great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd, and Leone Commet; his brother, Richard Commet; and his first wife, Mary Therese Commet.
