Robert Hawkins' Obituary
Robert “Bob” Hawkins, 90, of Michigan Center, went to Heaven, on Friday, January 26, 2024, at home under the care of his family and hospice. Bob’s family and friends will gather on Monday, January 29, 2024, from 5:00PM- 8:00PM at Eineder Funeral Homes – Michigan Center Chapel (Formerly Arthur-Day Funeral Home). His funeral service will be held following a gathering from 10:00AM- 11:00AM, on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 11:00AM at Jackson Free Methodist Church (2829 Park Drive, Jackson, MI 49203). Interment will take place at 2:30 pm, at Leoni Township Cemetery.
Bob was born on September 17, 1933, in Vandercook, Michigan to Wayne and Leitha (Grow) Hawkins. He married the love of his life, Betty (Shank), on April 11, 1953, in Jackson, Michigan and they were married for over 70 years before his passing. Bob attended a one-room schoolhouse in the small town of Leoni, Michigan until 9th grade, when he transferred to Michigan Center High School. Bob was man of God who served the Lord Jesus Christ, he loved to read his Bible and was an ardent prayer warrior. He was a life-long member of the Jackson Free Methodist Church, where he served on various boards and committees, was actively attending the men’s bible group, “Band of Brothers”, and had many close friendships. Bob loved spending time with his family, golfing, attending Michigan football games, playing rook and euchre and being outdoors walking through the woods by his residence. Bob was co-founder, co-owner and a retiree from Robert James Machine Co.
Bob will be missed by his wife, Betty; his children, Robert (Holly) Hawkins Jr. of Virginia, James (Christina) Hawkins of Litchfield, MI, Linda (Thomas) Kelley of Indiana, and Pamela (William) MacCready of Horton, MI; brothers, Owen Hawkins, Warren (Deanna) Hawkins, Wayne Hawkins, and Donald (Sharon) Hawkins; 21 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Leitha, his brothers, Lowell (Ida) Hawkins, Lawrance (Joyce) Hawkins and sister in laws, Nancy Hawkins, and Vikki Hawkins.
