Koerkel, Robert William Sr.
Age 87, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022, two days shy of his 88th birthday at Vista Grande Villa Trellis Gardens Assisted Living Center. Bob is survived by his much beloved family; four children, Robert (Julie) Koerkel of Grand Blanc, Elizabeth (Devin) Eyre of Houston, TX, David (Angel) Koerkel of Jackson and Donald (Pamela) Koerkel of Chicago; eight grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his dearest wife of 57 years, Teddie in 2017; parents, George and Elsie (Neumann) Koerkel; brother, George and adopted brother, Jack.
Bob grew up in the Cincinnati area and graduated with a BS in EE from the University of Cincinnati in 1958, then served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1958 to 1964. During this time, he fell in love and married Teddie. In 1964, they moved to Jackson, Michigan. He worked many years as an electrical engineer with Consumers Energy, retiring from there in 1992.
He was Past Worthy Patron of Fern Leaf Chapter #66, Order of the Eastern Star; in O.E.S., he was Past County Vice-President as well as holding other O.E.S. offices; was a member of Emery Masonic Lodge in Loveland, Ohio and was a Civitan. He was active in several bowling leagues in Jackson over the years.
Bob was a Charter Member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2301 Ridgeway Road, Jackson, MI 49203 where a Memorial Service to honor his life will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 beginning at 11:00 am with O.E.S. Memorial Services. Church Services will immediately follow with Reverend Karen Kelley officiating. At his request, in lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's memory to Westminster Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
