Bob was born on October 16, 1956, in Detroit Michigan, to Robert and Gloria (Joy) Look. He grew up in Grosse Pointe, attended Austin Catholic Preparatory School for boys, and graduated from Grosse Point High School. From a young age, Bob was interested in HAM radio. He was a self-taught Amateur Radio Operator and obtained his general license at age 14. This was at the time of the Vietnam War. The US Navy frequently called to recruit him until his mother got on the phone and informed them of his age and asked them to please stop calling for now. Bob’s call sign was W8JHA and he communicated with people from all over the world throughout the years. Bob attended and graduated from Lawrence Tech University in Industrial Management. He was an active member of Alpha Sigma Phi. He served in several offices and continued to serve as state president of the alumni association.
Immediately upon graduation, Bob moved to Jackson, Michigan to join Consumers Power Company, later renamed Consumers Energy. After a short time at Consumers Power, he was aggressively recruited by Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in Dallas, Texas. He succumbed to the allure of the Dallas sparkle of the 1980s and started his training at the North Dallas campus of EDS. Following his training, he returned to Pontiac, Michigan in a supporting role for General Motors Corporation. Comparing the two career opportunities he had experienced, he chose to return to Consumers Power Corporate Headquarters in Jackson, where he stayed until his retirement.
Bob’s mission was supporting Good Shepherd Catholic Radio (GSCR), an EWTN affiliate in Jackson, where he served on the Board of Directors before his retirement. The day after he retired from Consumers Energy, he began service as General Manager of GSCR. Bob considered his role at GSCR as a faithful apostolate, and provided effective guidance in administration and operation of the radio station. Bob Joined the Knights of Columbus St. Francis Assisi Council #7945 in 2023 and later joined the Knight of Columbus Fourth Degree Jackson Area Assembly #2186, where Bob served as the Faithful Captain.
Bob is survived by his son Robert Charles “Rob” Look III, step daughter Chelsey (Brandon) Eley, two sisters Sheila Bowen and Rosemary (Jim Vervisch) Kruse and father-in-law Tom Wiggins. Bob also leaves behind his niece Victoria Joy (Jeremy) Bohland and nephew Michael Kruse (Kristen Wiloch) along with grandniece Tori Bohland and grandnephew and niece Benny and Scarlett Kruse. Look (Larry) Schroeder, Bill (Mary) Look, Chris (Lauren) Look and Jeanne Coyle.
