What a wonderful man we have lost.He was not just a friend,but my brother.God has blessed me with a great and true friend for many years and the world is better because he was here.The last time I saw Rob was in the restaurant in Brooklyn.He was with a friend and invited me to join them.What a gift that was.We sat there hanging on to each other with tears streaming down our cheeks.Two old men looking silly in public,but we did not care.Now there is a huge hole in my heart that only God can fill.May God bless you and give you the strength and comfort you need.I am always available for anything you might need. There was never a kinder, more caring, more generous neighbor than Rob. Many years ago he welcomed us into the neighborhood and proceeded to take us under his wing - plowing the road, repairing a machine, always there for this couple who really didn't get what it meant to live at the end of a long rural road. Oh my, Rob, you were so good to us! And then we learned that he was the poster child for great citizenship in our community. He will be missed and forever appreciated for the human he was! I first met Rob at his Irish Hills Automotive Shop. He always took A+ care of my automotive needs. As time passed we became good friends. Over the years we became best friends. While happy Rob is no longer having to deal with health issues I’m deeply saddened he’s no longer with us. Rob will always be remembered for the great person he was. Bob And Jeanne Gilmore

Rob was more than a friend. He was part of the Gilmore family. We met shortly after we retired and moved to Brooklyn. That was a long time ago. We talked about his childhood and especially his cars when he grew up. We worked together on his projects. We built Kiwanis Christmas floats together. They won First Place. We brought the Kiwanis food trailer back from Florida and made it functional. We helped him make his mothers Golumpkis for the annual Kiwanis dinner sale. We would go to lunch quite often so he would take time to eat. Early on Jeanne would take him to his doctor appointments and make sure he got his meds. He enjoyed stopping by so Jeanne could cook something special for him. Sometimes he would spend the night. He liked Mr. Jones, his black cat. He was kind, generous and caring. We have, and will continue to miss him.

I met Rob when he was getting ready to open his business, Irish Hills Auto. We had the good fortune to have our business relationship quickly evolve into what would turn out to be a 20+ year friendship. We walked through many of our life’s challenges together, and I will miss my true friend dearly. God bless you Rob.

Our hearts are heavy to hear of Rob’s passing.Our thoughts and prayers go out to Michelle, Frank and the rest of the family.
It wasn’t hard to have a good time with Rob. We especially enjoyed taking Rob to the Bohm Theater in Albion once a month to hear great blues music. He would always check to make sure we were going.
Another close memory is sharing a Tigers game with Rob and brother Frank.
We miss Rob but will always remember his kindness and appreciation.
