Robert D. 'Bob' Smith's Obituary
Age 75, of Michigan Center, passed away at Allegiance Health April 13, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, June E. (Johnston) Smith; two sons, Curtis D. and Robert 'RC' Smith; five grandchildren, Jamie (Smith) Chamberlain and husband Brandon, Jacob Smith, Chelsea (Smith) Allen, Jacea (Smith) French and husband Drew, and Andrea Smith; 5.999 great grandchildren (baby due any day); and two brothers, Roger L. (and wife Cathy (Sayer) Smith), Jack D. Smith and his dog Roxy. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert C. Smith, mother, Mildred (Watkins) Smith Treusdell, and step-father Harold Treusdell. Bob was born in Battle Creek September 17, 1939 and grew up in Union City where he graduated from High School in 1958. He owned and operated the ""Arby's Roast Beef"" restaurants in Jackson, Albion, Kalamazoo, Muskegon and Cadillac from 1974-2005. He served in the National Guard in the late 1950s. He enjoyed and raised exotic birds and animals and was an auto racing fan. He was a former member of the Michigan Center Rotary Club. Mr. Smith has been cremated. There will not be an immediate ""Celebration of Life"". Plans will be announced at a later date.
