Robin Lee Spaulding's Obituary
Age 70, of Leslie, passed away at his home under the loving care of his family on Wednesday, November 18, 2020. He was born at St. Johns, MI on January 17, 1950 to John and Sarah (McGinnis) Spaulding and they preceded him in death. Robin is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Ellen M. (Rasmussen) Spaulding; three children, Jean (Todd) Wixson of Leslie, Jennifer Spaulding of Leslie and James Spaulding of Colorado Springs, CO; eight adored grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Nickole and Amanda Wixson, Dani Spaulding Wood, Joelle, Ashton, Tye and Alyssa Spaulding; one great-granddaughter, Sadie Wixson; best friends, Jerry and Pam Kennedy; siblings, Charles(Carol) Spaulding, David Spaulding, Rebecca Mckenzie, and Ellen(Roger) Brainard; in-laws, Dennis (Nancy) Rasmussen, Carol Rasmussen, Pam Bond, and Gerald Clemons; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by siblings, Barbara, Shirley, John, Susan, Sally and Thomas; in-laws, Roger (Jeep) Daniels, Betty Spaulding, Bill Rasmussen and Sue Clemons. Over the years, Robin wore many hats: he was a full time firefighter with Summit Township, after cut-backs, he was a volunteer with that department; then with Hanover and Somerset Townships correlating with the change of his residence; he worked with Conrail as a fireman engineer; State of Michigan Department of Corrections as fire safety inspector for Michigan prisons; he then transferred to the Michigan Occupational and Safety Administration (MIOSHA) as an inspector, retiring from there in 2020 as a Safety Health Manager. Along with his other vocations, he was owner and operator of Rob's Safety CO2 and Rob's Maintenance Service. His favorite occupation was that of Grandpa, a position he truly excelled at and enjoyed. Some of his hobbies and pastimes were cruising and traveling, with golf and hunting among his favorites. Robin was also a woodworker and handyman; he took an active role in the building of Ellen and his forever home in Leslie. As was his request, cremation has taken place and a gathering to celebrate his well-lived life will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 with visitation beginning at 11:00 am and service at 11:30 am from the Leslie Township Hall, 4279 Oak Street, Leslie, MI 49251 with a luncheon following the services.
