Roger W. Barry's Obituary
82 years, died August 31, 2018, Roger was born in Escanaba, MI to Marion (McDonough) and Herbert Barry.
He was preceded in death by son, Mark, and sister and brother-in-law Helen and John Pavela. Roger is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Bidwell Barry, daughters Michelle (Safwat Elsherbiny) Barry and Julie Barry Beaton, grandchildren Lee and Sydney Beaton, Amy and Adam Elsherbiny, brother Don (Kay) Barry, and many nieces and nephews.
Serving in the Army gave him the means to attend college. He earned a BA and Teaching Certificate from CMU, MA in Geography from MSU, and a MA in Educational Leadership from EMU.
Roger spent 35 years as a teacher and principal at Michigan Center Schools. He enjoyed reading and traveling especially related to History. Overall his family and their education was the center of his life. He always wanted to know what was happening in his grandchildren's lives and encouraged them to work toward their goals.
A Memorial Service will be held at Arthur-Day Funeral Home on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11:00 am with Reverend Richard Rogers officiating. Visitation will begin at 10am.
