He was born on May 19, 1936, in Wauseon, Ohio to Ralph and Vesta (Brandt) McElhaney. Mac married Beverly Winters, on November 4, 1995, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They had 29 blessed years together until his passing. Mac was a world traveler, visiting 120 countries with his adoring wife by his side. He loved to visit their cabin in Canada and their condo in the Bahamas. They had many family gatherings at these special locations. The children also took several cruises with them. He was a fitness enthusiast that had a sweet tooth. Mac retired from West Middle School in Ypsilanti after 38 years of service as a 4th grade social study teacher. He was a kind, caring and giving person, so much so that he donated his body to Medical Research. Mac was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed golfing and gardening, anything to be in the sunshine.
