Ronald Rae English's Obituary
Ronald Rae English, Age 77, passed away Monday, November 20, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Ronald’s family and friends will gather Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 120 W. Wesley St., Jackson, Michigan. His funeral mass will follow the visitation at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Tyler Arens will be the celebrant. Burial will take place Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI.
He was born on December 16, 1945, in Jackson, Michigan to Richard and Doris (Slamp) English. Ronald married the love of his life, Mildred, in 1973. They spent more than 48 years happily married. Ronald was a proud veteran serving more than 20 years in the Army, Navy, and Marines! He belonged to the American Legion Richard F. Smith Post #29, the Michigan Center Eagles, and many other veteran clubs in the community. Ronald will be remembered as a huge U of M fan and an animal lover. Ronald’s cat, Midnight, was his baby girl. Ronald was also a wonderful father. He taught his daughter to be confident, independent and to be able to defend herself in any situation.
Ronald will be missed by his daughter, Carol (Robert Jr.) Monk, brother, Gerald (Nancy) English; grandchildren, Kayla, Rebecca, Robert G.R. Monk, great grandchildren Aniah Monk and Ohana “Button” Barnett. Several step-children, step- grandchildren, and several step great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Doris English, son, Richard “Richie” English in 1995 and nephew, Richard English.
