Ronald Ray VanAkin's Obituary
Age 75, of Port Richey and Michigan Center, passed away March 14, 2018 in Hudson, Florida. He is survived by his long time companion, Hazel Wootten, two children, Ron (Crystal) VanAkin and Dawn (Mark) Jennings, seven grandchildren, Trey, Baylee and Brett Jennings, Tyler, Conner, RayAnn and Carter VanAkin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry A. and Minnie I (maiden-Carey) VanAkin, one brother and one sister. He served the Nation in the USMC in the Vietnam War, retired as a Sergeant from the Michigan Department of Corrections, loved karate and golf and was a member of the American Legion Rose City Post #225. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at the St. Aidan's Church (361 E. Grove, Michigan Center) Saturday April 21 at 3 pm with Pastor Larry Rubingh officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 pm until service time. Military Honors will be rendered by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team. Contributions in his memory are directed to the American Legion Rose City Post or the American Cancer Society.
