The son of the late Lawrence and Lorene (Day) Roark. On October 13, 1962, in Brooklyn, Roy married the love of his life, Judy Schiel, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church where he and Judy remained active members for 60 years. On October 13, 2022, Roy and Judy celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Roy graduated from Napoleon High School in 1961. From there he went on to work and retire after 30 years from Fischer Body/General Motors Company in Tecumseh, Michigan.
Roy could be found in his garage either painting a car or working on his motorcycle. He had a gift for painting custom cars for shows, the everyday driver, or as a hobby. Sometimes progress in the garage would slow as countless friends and family would stop by to just hang out and talk. Roy enjoyed traveling to visit family in Tennessee and Kentucky where he always looked forward to some southern cooking from his relatives. He also enjoyed traveling on his motorcycle across the country or just for a relaxing cruise wandering to nowhere. He always had a joke to tell and was the life of any gathering. Roy also enjoyed working at MIS for 35 years, he worked on the Turn 3 Track Crew.
Along with his wife Judy, Roy is survived by his two daughters, Dawn Preller of Florida, and Lana Roark (Shane Brown) of Napoleon, and his pride and joy, his granddaughters, Mayce Preller of Florida, and Bailey Bascom of Grand Rapids. He is also survived by his brother, Ed Roark, sister-in-law Dorothy (Doug) Flagler, and brother-in-law Richard Schiel, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends that became family on his journey through the “Highway of Life.”
