Ruth Leona Eggleston (Allen)'s Obituary
Ruth departed on the 27th of April in the year of our Lord 2015 at the age of 86. Born in Ferndale Michigan on September 1, 1928; she was the daughter of Marion (Smith - Allen) Salois and Roy Allen. On the 31st of August 1946 she married Wayne Eggleston. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Wayne, her parents, step father Leo Salois, all her siblings and 1 great-Grandchild. She is survived by her two sons (Wayne Jr and his wife Linda as well as James and his wife Valerie), 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 2 nephews. Throughout Ruth's life she was a devoted member of the Order of Eastern Star in which she served several times as the Worthy Matron, appointed as the Grand Representative of Arkansas in Michigan, as well as having a Grand Page appointment. At the time of her passing she was a member to both the Flat Rock Chapter #156 and the Fern Leaf Chapter #66 as well as belonging to the Michigander Club. Ruth's life was filled with many interests, but most notably her love for children and animals. When her children were young they always had a dog in their home. Later in life she and Wayne turned towards bringing in rescue cats. Through the years she had many things that played big parts to her life, most notably her family, but she also devoted a significant amount of her time studying the bible and listening to music. She loved playing dice games, doing crafts and teaching ceramics. Notably though, her day was never complete without her evening dish of ice cream. One of her most favorite past times was when she and her grandchildren would sit together in the living room and do group story time, where each member of the family was to provide short segment of the story and then move onto the next member to string it together. Per Ruth's wishes, cremation has taken place. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
