Ruth Laura Putirka's Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved, Ruth Laura Putirka. Ruth was born in Detroit Michigan, to Frank and Laura Wyckoff on April 27, 1928. Preceded in death by her parents, siblings (Phyllis and Jim Mathis, David and Patricia Wyckoff, Kenneth Wyckoff) and her daughter-in-law (Jennifer Putirka) With a loving heart, Ruth enjoyed sharing many memories about times spent with her family and friends. When Ruth was a young lady she performed at the Civic Light Opera, in Detroit Michigan. She also sang at the Masonic Temple in Detroit. As well as many special occasions for church and family. . It was not uncommon for her to sing at any given time. Singing always made her happy. Being married twice, (Gerald F. Robbins and Frank Joseph Putirka) the last was the love of her life. Her loving husband, (Joe) ascended to heaven, Jan. 16,1994. She always referred to him as her wonderful husband and she missed him every day. With the Lord in her heart and mind, she wrote many powerful poems during difficult times in her life. It was her way to express her feelings and her path to healing. Joe and Ruth where active members of St. Marks Lutheran Church in the Irish Hills, for many years. She loved her church and the congregation. Ruth was active in her community belonging to the Onsted Senior Center where she played cards and met with friends. She also enjoyed knitting afghans, reading and the dice game 10000 with family She is survived by her daughter (Darlene and William Hamlett),her son (Frank Joseph Putirka II). Her grandchildren, (Raymond Daniel Shepherd III and Stephanie) (Lynette Ruth and Brian Hooker), (Joseph William Putirka and Amanda) and (Lauren June Putirka) Also, many great and great great grandchildren.
Ruth's family and friends will gather Friday, September 27, 2024 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 11151 US 12, Brooklyn, Michigan. Her service will begin at 2:00 pm with Interment to follow at Maple Shade Cemetery, Onsted.
