Sallie Jane Schiel's Obituary
Sallie Jane Schiel, 81, of Manchester, MI, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025, at home with her loved ones by her side. Sallies’ family and friends will gather Wednesday, September 17, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., at Eineder Funeral Homes - Manchester Chapel. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., following visitation from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., at Emanuel United Church of Christ, 324 W. Main Street, Manchester. Rev. Dr. Eugene Blair will officiate. Interment to take place at Norvell Cemetery.
She was born on September 21, 1943, in Tecumseh, Michigan, to Albert and Elaine (Benzler) Schiel. Sallie will be remembered for her lifetime of a deep and abiding faith. She started teaching Sunday School at a young age and enjoyed serving on church committees. Sallie is a 1961 graduate of Manchester High School, following higher education at Jackson Junior College and Eastern Michigan University, majoring in business.
Sallie worked in various physician offices followed by a 37-year career as Executive Director of the Washtenaw County Medical Society. She was a dedicated worker and welcomed the many opportunities to help others and interact with colleagues at other County Societies and the Michigan State Medical Society, where annual meetings were held throughout the U.S. She enjoyed the travel and comradery. Sallie was a member of the Manchester 20th Century Club and enjoyed entertaining others with home cooked meals.
Sallie is survived by her sister, Sue Schiel and many cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Elaine.
