Sandra Lee Porter's Obituary
Age 66, of Jackson, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on Monday, March 30, 2020 under the loving care of her family and Elara Caring Hospice. Sandra was born in Jackson to Marvin and Jane (McGlinch) Thomsen and graduated from Jackson High School in 1971. On May 7, 1976 she was married to James Dean Porter who preceded her in death in 2008. Sandra and Jim raised their family in the Vandercook Lake area, where she has lived for 36 years. Family was the focus of her life and she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Sandra is survived by her son, Andrew (Heather) Porter of Jackson; daughter, Janie (Rodney Jr) Voorheis of Jackson; grandchildren, Logan Porter, Hailey and Noah Voorheis; brother, Chris (Sharon) Thomsen; brother-in-law, William Porter and several nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; twin infant grandsons, Andrew and James Porter; and her sister, Pamela McCleery. As was her request, cremation has taken place and a small gathering of family and close friends will be held this summer when Sandra's remains are placed alongside her husband Jim at Somerset Cemetery in Somerset, MI.
