Sgt. Ernest ""Ed"", Ret. Schweikert's Obituary
Age 73, of Jackson, passed away January 21, 2016 at his home under the loving care of his family and Great Lakes Caring Hospice. He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Schweikert. Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Sue Schweikert; two daughters, Angie (Phil) Barker of Evanston, IL and Amy Schweikert of Ypsilanti; his mother, Virginia Schweikert of Jackson; four siblings, Gloria (Rob) Suggitt, Howard ""Bob"" Schweikert and Dan (Diane Chesney) Schweikert, all of Jackson and Janet (Wayne) Johnson of Wellston; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ed served in the U.S. Army and retired as a Sergeant with the National Guard 1461st Transportation Unit with over 20 years of service; he was a member of the American Legion Rose City Post #324. He was a retiree of Elm Plating. Ed enjoyed bowling, golfing and MSU sports. Cremation has taken place and a private celebration of his life will be held. Interment with military honors will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in the spring. For those who wish, contributions in Ed's memory may be given to Great Lakes Caring Hospice or the charity of one's choice.
